KL and Balok windsurfers meet

Windsurfers in KL played host to Syamil from BoardSapiens.Com who came down to KL to sample the wind conditions here. When we arrived in Jeram at about 1:30 PM, the wind has started blowing. I was told by some of the drink sellers that it was windier earlier. We quickly rigged up and managed to get about 10-12 knots of wind for about half an hour. The wind died quite abrubtly, which is quite peculiar as it usually would lessen in strength gradually. Overall, it was a fun an interesting …

Light winds. Northport, Klang 31st May 2009

Windguru is, I would say, 70% reliable when it comes to predicting winds on the West Coast of Malaysia. Anyway, due to the lack of consistent, strong winds, we managed to take shots of our riders using my Olympus WaterProof camera (i love this camera). Unfortunately, it was quite hazy that day so the picture quality is not that great. The current was not strong that day also. So ample time for our riders to line up for the shot.

Some of us still managed to plane in freak gusts, but …

Tasik Prima in Puchong

Tasik Prima in Puchong can be a great windsurfing location in PJ/Puchong area. Located just of the LDP, it can be reached in less than 20 minutes from PJ. However, due to being in a cosmopoliton area, it is prone to swirling winds. You can be planing when suddenly the winds change abruptly and you crash and swallow foul, green coloured , ex-open cast mine lake water
There is also a wakeboarding operator located in the same lake..

Windless day in Port Klang

Adrenaline was pumping on the drive from PJ to Port Klang. A storm was brewing and the wind was picking up speed. Upon reaching Port Klang, white caps can be seen everywhere. We quickly rigged up eager to get into the water. Like Murphy’s Law, the moment our boards touched the water, the wind died down..sigh…here’s some pics of a windless day in Port Klang….

Strong winds in Selangor

Unusually strong winds of up to 20 knots was present in Pantai Remis, Jeram on Sunday. Most of us carry sails from 7.9 to 9.5 due to the usual draught of winds in the west coast of Malaysia. Sunday was an exception. The wind was mental and we had to tie our sails down to prevent it from flying off.
Check out the videos taken on that day of Fauzi and Anwar ripping thru the waves.

WindSurfing in KL

Set in the constantly warm and wet equatorial zones, Malaysia may seem free from seasons but in actuality, the mighty Monsoon winds from China do reach this part of the region. The one from China has a more significant effect, especially to the east coast states of the peninsula, and it’s called the Northeast Monsoon, traditionally starting from December and on through to March (nowadays its seems to start from as early as mid-September).
For days, it can rain incessantly with wind gusts up to 30 knots. Not the best time …
